On I have discussed MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) in previous posts:
Here are some of the more recent development:
- On 2017-02-10 Linn posted on its blog "MQA is Bad for Music. Here's Why."
- On 2017-02-16 Universal Music group and MQA announced a multi-year agreement to encode Universal's catalogue MQA. Universal joins Warner Music Group as the second of the "Big Three" record labels to partner with MQA.
- On 2017-03-14 Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity published "MQA (Master Quality Authenticated). What it is, and why you will want it!"
- On 2017-03-17 Positive Feedback published "My Questions and Answers (MQA): An Interview with Andreas Koch."
- On 2017-03-17 the Japanese record label UNAMAS released an MQA-encoded CD. At this link from Stereophile, Bob Stuart of Meridian and MQA answered questions on the MQA CD.
MQA seems to be gaining traction. While I haven't yet been able to evaluate it myself, the reviews are positive. If it delivers in terms of sound quality and widespread availability it will be quite interesting indeed.

Very interesting videos. i agree with the philosophers Mr Butcher and i ‘ll explain in my own way. When there is no input transducer (ear) and brain to interpret and convert the wave form into details it will just remain a wave form signal. Only when the signal is observed by an input transducer and converted to information based on amplitude and frequency etc. it becomes a sound.
