Danish loudspeaker manufacturer DALI demonstrated the newly released Callisto series of wireless speakers at High End 2018.
The Callisto series consists of the floorstanding Callisto 6 C, the stand-mounted Callisto 2 C and the Sound Hub. Both speakers feature DALI's hybrid tweeter and wood fibre drivers with SMC magnet motor systems. Each speaker is powered by a 250W 2 channel class D amplifier with DSP crossovers. The Callistos are supplied either by a 24/96 wireless connection from the Sound Hub or via a line-level analog connection from the Sound Hub, a preamp or other analog device. The Sound Hub accepts Bluetooth, analog, and optical and coaxial digital inputs. It provides analog preamp and subwoofer output as well 24/96 I2S wireless digital link to the Callistos.
Both the Callisto 6 C and 2 C produced the highly resolved, involving sound that one expects from a DALI speaker The sound was dynamic with a rich midrange and clear extended treble, and was seamless from lows right through to the highs. The Calistos are excellent speakers, in sound, flexibility and the quality of their conception and execution.
