The Hegel Mohican CD player and IsoTek EVO3 Initium power cable have been selected among the 2016 Product of the Year by the prestigious high-end audio publication Hi-Fi+.
The Hegel Mohican is the last CD player that Hegel will make. The name plays on the title of James Fenimore Cooper's novel, "The Last of the Mohicans."
For this final effort Hegel has optimised circuitry from its award winning flagship DAC, the HD30, for CD resolution playback only. It has further added its patented SoundEngine technology to produce a truly outstanding dedicated CD player.
When Hi-Fi+ reviewed the Hegel Mohican it said:
"... the interesting part of the Mohican’s performance is just how much it challenges the need for high-resolution audio... There’s a sense of cohesiveness and coherence to the sound of CD played through the Mohican, something that all too often gets lost in all the impressive detail and soundstaging properties of high-res... Very highly recommended."
The IsoTek EVO3 Initium is an entry level power cord from IsoTek.
In the Hi-Fi+ review of the EVO3 Initium, reviewer Alan Sircom said:
"IsoTek’s EVO3 Initium is now our all-rounder default mains cable choice, and comes highly recommended as a result."
