High End 2017: Burmester

Burmester celebrated its 40th anniversary by launching some new products at High End 2017.

Just outside the Burmester booth was a Bugatti Veyron fitted with a Burmester sound system.  Not a bad high end audio listening room 🙂 .

Burmester introduced its first turntable, the 175, built completely in house.  The 175 features four motors, a 9" carbon/aluminium tonearm, a MC cartridge, and a built in phono stage and power supply.

Burmester also introduced the BC350 loudspeaker, featuring two 32 cm woofers, two 22cm midwoofers and two AMT tweeters, one of which is mounted at the top of the speaker.  The BC350 operates in two modes, Pure mode and a Live mode in which the upper midrange driver is changed from passive to active, the top-mounted tweeter is active and there are changes to the crossover.  Live mode is designed to produce a more dynamic spacious sound.

In Pure mode the system produced a wonderful, highly resolved, extremely musical sound, which was full range, from the deep, powerful yet taut bass all the way up to a sparkling, grainless treble.  When switched to Live mode the sound indeed became more spacious and dynamic.

This system produced some of the best sound of the show.
