Dutch loudspeaker manufacturer, AEquo Audio, launched the Stilla at High End 2018. The Stilla brings many of the design concepts of AEquo's highly acclaimed and awarded Ensis to smaller, more familiar form, that's also more affordable.
The demo system consisted of the Antipodes Audio EX music server supplying a Mola Mola Tambiqui DAC, which drove a Mola Mola Makua preamp. Amplification was provided by a LinnenberG Audio Widor stereo power amp, with 2 built-in 250W N-core amplifiers powering each Stilla's two 7" active subwoofers.
The Stillas disappeared completely in the AEquo's room, producing a wide, deep soundstage. With their built-in subwoofers, the Stillas produced amazing bass, out of all proportion with their size. It was deep and powerful but very well controlled. It integrated perfectly with the sparking treble and rich midrange to produce a wonderful, truly full-range sound.
A very impressive speaker indeed.
