Focal demoed its Utopia III speakers in two rooms at NYAS2014, one using VAC electronics and the other driven by Naim.

The Grand Utopia EM is Focal's flagship speaker.  Driven by the VAC's flagship Statement 450 iQ monoblock power amps, the Focal's provide sounded good, but, given that the whole system cost around US$500k I was somewhat underwhelmed.  In particular I was disappointed by the system's lack of dynamic impact in the bass.

In the Naim room the Naim Statement preamp and monoblocks drove the Focal Stella Utopia EM.  This system sounded much better than the VAC/Focal system.
