Swiss audio manufacturer, Soulution, demonstrated a range products from their Series 3, 5 and 7. The system consisted of the 760 D/A converter, the 525 preamplifier and a pair of 511 stereo amplifiers, operated in mono mode, driving a pair of Rockport Lyra loudspeakers. Also included were a turntable from De Baer, of Switzerland, with De Baer Onyx tonearms and EMT and Ortofon cartridges, connected to a Soulution 550 phono stage. A Soulution 330 integrated amplifier provided an amplification alternative for the system.
This system provided excellent sound. The imaging was precise and the soundstage was very wide, extending far outside the speakers. It was a real pleasure to listen to two jazz LPs featuring Ray Brown, "We Get Requests" and "Soular Energy." Brown's bass was reproduced with rich tone and texture, and Oscar Peterson's piano positively sparkled. A very enjoyable sound indeed.
