The acoustics of a space greatly affects how comfortable it is to occupy and how effectively we can use it. This is well understood for audio production studios and listening rooms, but it also applies to other rooms, whether they are used for entertainment, work, education or leisure.
The room pictured above is a small office with concrete block walls, a tiled floor and a suspended ceiling. These hard surfaces made it very echoey, affecting speech intelligibility and the naturalness of conversations and sound there.
The room was treated with the Azores acoustic absorber panels from Artnovion, seen in the picture. These panels are available in several shapes, come in a wide range of colours, and can also be custom printed. They provide effective solutions to acoustic problems, and also allow attractive and creative designs that enhance the look of the space.
This graph shows the measured reverberation time in the room, before and after installation of the Artnovion Azores panels. The reverberation time is the time taken for a sound produced in the room to decay to an effectively inaudible level. The graph shows a very substantial decrease in reverberation time. This means that the office is much less echoey, has improved speech intelligibility, and sounds more pleasant and natural.
