Tidal Audio/Reimyo
Wynn Audio presented a system comprising the Tidal Audio Contriva G2 speakers driven by Reimyo electronics: the CDT-777 CD transport, DAP-999EX Limited DAC, CAT-777 MkII vacuum tube control amplifier and CAP-777 monblock power amps. The system was set up in a large room with Franck Tchang tuning products.
This room provided some of the best sound of the show, with a wide deep soundstage. The bottom octave was somewhat absent, but that apart the sound was very refined with lots of harmonic texture and excellent imaging and separation of instruments. I really enjoyed this system.
Wilson Audio/ Dan D'Agostino
In this systems the Wilson Audio Sasha Series 2 speakers were driven by the Dan D'Agostino Momentum preamp and monoblock amps, supplied by a MSB Technology digital front end. Cables were by Nordost. The system was set up well into a large, untreated room, firing along its length.
This was another of the best sounding rooms at the show. The sound powerful and refined with 3D imaging.
Woo Audio
Woo Audio provided a wonderful selection of their headphone amps and some excellent headphone with which to audition them. I was particularly interested in the prototype of the W8 portable tube heaphone amp, which I used to drive a pair of Beyerdynamic Tesla T1 Semi-open dynamic headphones. This was a wonderful listening experience.
